Pakistan is a hub of amazing artists and talented people. And interestingly, we get to see their examples daily on the news. Every day someone is being highlighted for their amazing work. Most people nowadays are aware of the super talented Haider Ali whose expertise is painting on the canvas. Apparently, he is back again with better techniques. His latest canvas is known for the carnival of colors – representing the culture of Pakistan.
Pakistani trucks are known for their truck art – the religious, animals, verses, proses, and painting of human beings. You get to see all this and much more. All of which is in one way or another is an image of Pakistan, and its people.
Upon this new Canvas – Haider when asked about it said, “A client came to me from the US asking me to paint shoes. ”He further added, “I told him an exorbitant fee to discourage him but he agreed, so I decided to get on with it.”
In total, it takes Haider about four days to work and complete the painting on one pair of shoes. Since January, when Haider Ali started this work, he sold over 8 pairs, in Pakistan, and abroad. The usual fee is $400 per pair. “The ideas keep coming to me,” the 42-year-old mused. “It’s in human nature to decorate ourselves and the things around us.”
Some people say that the idea of truck art started back in the 1940s when local brands started to paint interesting pictures and animations on their trucks to establish their brand identity and create brand awareness.
But now this is a tradition.
Pakistanis keep coming up with new ways to showcase their art. Because seriously, who could have thought that one day someone would come up with the idea of painting the traditional truck art on shoes. No one except one man who executed it to the perfection that at the end of the day, everyone knew of him and his talent.
This requires a lot of hard work and dedication. But we are forever thankful to this man, and others like him who don’t give up and try to come up with new and better ways to highlight their art. It is people like them that inspire others and gives them the courage to also follow their own dreams. We are forever thankful to such people who are the pride of Pakistan. May they continue to shine and make us proud.
