Pakistan is a country full of culture, traditions, creativity, and art. And as such, the people of this beautiful country like to showcase their art anytime and anywhere. This is the reason why the trucks in Pakistan have unique paintings. And this talent has no age. Haider Ali, born in Karachi, recently painted unique traditional Pakistani truck art on NIKE original sneakers, and everyone loved it!
Ali paints flowers on the shows, but the delicacy he draws is to be lauded and appreciated with his finesse. When the pictures went viral on Twitter, people from Pakistan went crazy. Here at Neemopani, one of our colleagues has been discussing how much she wants these shoes.
Ali is an artist who uses his talent to talk about and highlight critical social issues. In June 2020, with the incident of George Floyd, Ali honored the deceased with a stunning mural, which read, ‘Hum kaaley hain tou kia hua, dil waley hain (So what if we’re dark-skinned? We’ve got big hearts).” It also features another saying that goes, “Goron ki na kaalon ki, Dunya dil walon ki’
This just speaks volume on how excellent Haider Ali is. It takes courage and utter creativity to talk about social issues prevalent in society and express them with art.
However, this now leaves us with one fundamental question about the people of Pakistan. We all know that there is no shortage of art and creativity in Pakistan, but what are we doing to give them the recognition that they deserve?
Our country is full of people like Haider Ali, who can do great but lack the proper mediums to bring their art to life.
We researched a lot on the internet and found one article from Culture Trip, highlighting 10 Minimalist Painters From Pakistan. But this is just one article. There need to be proper channels to showcase their work and get the recognition they deserve.
So let’s all promise to promote and appreciate our artists.
