Coke Studio 14 – QB And Zain Zohaib’s Grooving In Thagyan

The qawwali styled Thagyan, which talks of the betrayal of the beloved. The Associate Music Producer Action Zain penned it down, and it took him one month to do just that. He has also composed the song using the traditional elements and humnawas.

Coke studio 14 has been phenomenal. Every song has a different feel. Xulfi knows how to experiment with music. This season is a mix of regional languages, Balochi,  Punjabi, etc. Qurat ul Ain Baloch aka QB is back with a bang in the latest song with Zain and Zohaib.

Coke studio 14 released its 11th song, which had us hooked. The qawwali styled Thagyan, which talks of the betrayal of the beloved. The Associate Music Producer Action Zain penned it down, and it took him one month to do just that. He has also composed the song using the traditional elements and humnawas. He said, “It feels really grounded to use tradition and familiarity as a launchpad to explore the unknown.”

This song reminds us of the way coke studio music used to be, a combination of harmonies and catchy lyrics. The sets of this season add to the beauty of the songs. In this number, the ‘Neon lights cut through incense fumes and shadows, giving a neo-noir feel to the video.’

Pasoori – Coke Studio Sixth Song Is Much More Than We Expected!

We are so excited to see our favorite QB in this song. QB had last appeared in season 12. ‘It is a protest song, which objects to the tricky nature of love. Suspended somewhere between heaven and earth, Thagyan says there is pleasure in the sorrows of this dimension.’ The song opens with Zain Zohaib, in which they complain about how one person occupies the thoughts:

Jadon da toon takkya ae hoya bura haal ve

Dil mera chaahnda hun rahwaan tere naal ve

Dil noon eh dil diyaan laggiyan ne maariya

Saahnoon chan maahiya teri ṭhaggiyaan ne maariya

QB enters the set with a reply to show how trust is important with the following lines:

Ik waari jaawe fer muṛ ke toon aaunda naeen

Saaḍe wal maahiya fer phera toon te paaunda naeen

Lokaan kol bahna en toon

Door saathon rahna en toon

Kahnde loki la ke toon toṛ nibhaaunda naeen

Tere baare khabraan eh pakkiyaan ne maariya

Saahnoon chan maahiya teri ṭhaggiyaan ne maariya

The crew enjoys the song rather than reinventing it. There’s a party in the courtyard. Director Kamal Khan and Production Designer Hashim Ali have added funk to the air, a magenta wash of light, and flowers blooming underfoot, making the performance slinky and fun.

The song has taken Twitter.

Love pours out for the song across the border.

Some like it for its classical rendition.

People are in absolute love with QB’s voice and they want here to do more such songs.

We are absolutely grooving Thagyaan and adding it to our special playlist.
