Lionel Messi has been in Saudi Arabia for the Jeddah season. The footballer is there to attend the cultural festival with 2,800 separate events.
The Tourism Minister of Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Al Khateeb in a tweet informed people of this amazing news. In his tweet he said: ‘I am pleased to welcome Lionel Messi to Saudi Arabia.
‘We are excited for you to explore the treasure of the Red Sea, the Jeddah Season, and our ancient history. This is not his first visit to the Kingdom and it will not be the last.’
Though this appeared as a piece of good news for some, many criticized the footballer and discouraged him from becoming a tourism Ambassador. As we all know that the footballer enjoys a huge fan base, and everything he says and does will carry a great impact around the world.
Although, there are some who welcomed the idea of Lionel Messi as the tourism ambassador. Sami Al Jaber a fellow footballer said: “It is a very distinguished and unique step to have Messi as an ambassador for Saudi Tourism due to the huge impact the player has, which will reflect positively on Jeddah’s position as a tourist destination.”
People have different thoughts on this stance. The footballer must have thought something before accepting the offer. The Argentinian footballer has also served as the ambassador for different organizations like the United Nations. We think he knows his way around things and will manage things professionally.
