Casemiro, a player for both Manchester United and Brazil, recently praised his old rival Lionel Messi and said it was a “pleasure” to play against the PSG superstar Leo Messi.

In a recent interview with Placar, the five-time winner of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) called Messi one of the top three players of his age. He said, “I didn’t get to see Maradona or Pele play, but I enjoyed watching Messi, Cristiano, and Neymar play.”

“Leo Messi made an era, and he was always competitive with Barcelona and Argentina; there was no way out,” said the Brazilian player. Messi is great if you like sports.

“I really enjoyed playing against him. He is a person about whom you don’t need to say anything.

In 2016, Leo Messi and Casemiro met for the first time in a league game between Real Madrid and Barcelona at Camp Nou.

Los Blancos won the game at a time when the Brazilian was becoming one of the world’s best defensive midfielders.

Even though Casemiro likes the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, he did not watch the 2022 World Cup final when the Argentine led his country to victory.

“No, I didn’t watch it, and after we lost, I don’t think I turned on the TV or watched football for a month. It hurt very much.

“The event was won by Licha, who is one of my best friends. I’m happy for him and I respect and value him a lot. Lisandro deserves it from my friends if anyone does,” he said.

It must be mentioned that Casemiro joined Real Madrid in 2013 as a 21-year-old and made his debut for the Whites in the 2012-13 season against Real Betis on April 20.

He was soon moved up to the first team, where he played centre behind Xabi Alonso the next season.
