Twitterati poke fun at Zayn Malik for his'too Pakistani' appearance in the new teaser

Zayn Malik, a Pakistani-British singer, put out a preview for his long-awaited record. Last week, the former member of One Direction shared a short clip of his new songs. The music sounds like a mix of rap and rock, and the beat is pretty cool, but it’s the music video that has fans going crazy on Twitter.

Zayn went to the microblogging site and posted a short clip of his new song without a description. In the video clip, he wore a leather jacket, rode a bike, lit a cigarette, and stood on a bridge to look out over the city. Both the images and the way the movie was put together were of low quality, which may have been what he was going for.

The clip hit too close to home for his fans in Pakistan, and some were happy to see Zayn show his “Pakistani roots.”

A person wrote, “He’s giving Muhammad Danish Bin Abu Bakar,” which means he looks like a normal Pakistani boy.

One user made fun of a Pakistani real estate mogul by saying, “Malik Riaz probably gave him a plot in DHA,” while another thought the clip was filmed in Karachi’s Creek Vista.

“For a second, I thought he did it in front of Creek Vista,” one person wrote with a laughing emoji. And the house sure looks like it.

But more than one person thought the place looked like K-town. There was also an Indian fan who said that the place looks like Bandra East. “I love him, but this looks like it was filmed on an Oppo in Bandra East,” said a tweet.

A Twitter user thought that Zayn’s beat reminded him of a local song that he had heard before. They wrote, “Bro copied the style of Cold World by Shamoon Ismail and thought we wouldn’t notice.” He was even called Hasan Raheem by one friend.

Someone said that the video looks like it was made by YouTuber Irfan Junejo.

But the winning tweet came from a fan who said that the singer of Dusk Till Dawn was like their “childhood crush” who turned out to be a Pakistani thug. “It hurts so much to see your childhood crush become a gutka thukne wala maila (tobacco-spitting loafer) who hangs out in Mazar e Quaid,” the tweet said.

In his Spotify bio, Zayn said that he thought new music would come out in 2023. Billboard says that he has signed a new deal with Mercury Records. This news comes after the singer deleted all of her social media accounts and then released a pre-save link and preview. His first song will come out “very soon this summer,” according to the label.

Zayn used to be signed to RCA Records. Sources close to the singer told the newspaper that his new music will be “a departure from the sound that characterised his previous chart-topping hits” like “Pillowtalk” and “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever.” Already, he has put out three solo albums: Mind of Mine in 2016, Icarus Falls in 2018, and Nobody Is Listening in 2021.
