Pakistan is fighting COVID slowly and steadily. The government has taken all effective measures to counter the virus. We are bearing fruits of these efforts by controlling the effects to some extent. Recently, Pakistan achieved the milestone of 1 million COVID vaccination. WHO congratulated Pakistan on achieving this milestone?
According to NCOC, the COVID positivity rate declined to 2%. Last time it was 1.8% in January.
Asad Umar, who heads the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), said that Pakistan has achieved a major milestone in Pakistan’s National Vaccination Programme.
“As many as 100 million Pakistanis are now fully vaccinated and over 127 million have received at least one dose. The country is “very close to achieving vaccination of all eligible citizens.”
220 million of Pakistan’s population is now fully vaccinated, which is around 45%. 127 million have received the first dose. Over 4.6 million COVID-19 booster shots nationwide have been given by the government.
In February 2022, the government launched the countrywide door-to-door COVID-19 vaccination drive. This played a crucial role in bringing down the number of daily cases. Over 55,000 mobile teams carried out door-to-door drives, offering both vaccines and booster shots to people. Health officials have also been spreading awareness amongst the citizens to get vaccinations to avoid complications.
They have also relaxed the travel rules as the cases have declined. They have also removed mandatory PCR testing for fully vaccinated travelers arriving in Pakistan.
WHO Twitter handle tweeted “the Heartiest Congratulations” to Pakistan. The WHO applauds Govt of Pakistan for having over 100 million individuals fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. This shows the tremendous efforts made by the Government of Pakistan in ensuring that everyone across the country has access to COVID-19 vaccination.
