Since 2019, life has been hard for everyone around the world. The pandemic posed risks to everyone not even a single person was spared. Rich and poor alike. But the hardest hit were the health workers, who took the responsibility to go to lengths to save lives risking their own. To honor their services the federal government is going to award health workers with civil awards which is a much-needed acknowledgment.
One of the most effective preventive measures of covid is ‘social distancing’ or avoiding human-to-human contact. This has helped many to avoid contracting the disease. When each one of us was making desperate attempts at saving our lives some people were making desperate attempts to save our lives. Doesn’t it sound weird that instead of taking care of their own lives they have been working day and night to save people’s lives? Yes, there are people out there who have dedicated their lives to making us healthy. They are known to the world as ‘the health workers.’
The health workers in Pakistan and around the world have been working since the day the first covid case surfaced. Even in times when people were not taking adequate steps and were adamant to not follow the SOPs even then the health workers kept on treating them. People don’t even realizing that the health workers are exposed to the risks of contracting the virus twice or thrice times than us. But have you ever considered the thought of thanking them or saying words that could make their day better?
The government, however, has finally realized to honor the health workers with civil awards that too on 23rd March 2022. This was a due and much-needed acknowledgment that we owed to the health workers. The health workers include doctors, nurses, and paramedics. The health care workers from the health sector of all the provinces of Pakistan i.e., Punjab, Sindh, KPK. Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and AJK would be nominated for the one-time civil award.
The government is playing its part in recognizing the services of the people who don’t even bat an eye before treating the covid patients. Hundreds of health care workers have sacrificed their lives in this line of work. It’s high time that we also acknowledge their services and not take their services for granted.
Neemopani salutes all the health workers out there. It is all to your hard work, care, and dedication that we are leading a normal and healthy life.
