Technology has taken over the world and it’s now on a never-ending journey. It has revolutionized our lives. Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality have given a new meaning to the world. Metaverse is one such example. Pakistan has been progressing in technology with no stopping. In a recent development, Faisal Mosque has the honour of being the first place to have a complete 3D view placed in the Decentraland Metaverse.
What is Metaverse?
Every market-leading company has its definition of the metaverse. According to Author Eric Ravenscraft, “Mentally replace the phrase “the metaverse” in a sentence with “cyberspace.” Ninety percent of the time, the meaning won’t substantially change.” We can say it is a combination of virtuality and reality. Every one of us must have attended conferences, classes, and have played games during the pandemic.
Metaverse is a ‘complex network of virtual spaces where real people from the real world interact with each other in augmented reality. This whole new technology, which is built around the concept of computer-generated 3D simulations, is the future of the internet and ideas.’ It will also help to provide an opportunity for the growing demand for digital currency, digital arts, and digital spaces.
Web 2.0 came when social media was introduced, which helped users to share their content on the internet. They restricted it in this version. Now, Web 3.0 has been introduced, which will give the users more control over their content because of decentralization and permission-less systems as its key features. It is just like a separate digital life where the users can interact and share their content with the intermediator. One such example is Decentraland.
It is the first 3D virtual world browser-based platform. The users can buy virtual property as NFTs. Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) owns and governs this platform. It is one of the biggest metaverse platforms, where the currency used in this metaverse is the biggest metaverse cryptocurrency. It is almost worth $4.5 Billion.
Faisal Mosque in Metaverse
Pakistan is also investing in tech zones and the youngsters are also very keen to make their mark in the international market. Mudassar Ali and Umair Mustafa have collaborated to grow Pakistan’s footprint by creating the first 3D view of Faisal Masjid in Decentraland metaverse. They intend to make more such models as this area isn’t yet explored. This is the first of its kind where the user can explore the architectural beauty of the Faisal Mosque. The interesting part is that the famous architectural buildings will be available for purchase from the NFT marketplace if the user owns the land.
