Bill Gates is one of the most popular philanthropists as well as the founder of Microsoft. He holds a prominent position as one of the world’s most influential figures. His recent interest in Pakistan’s IT sector and polio eradication policies holds great potential for the country’s progress.
Only recently in January 2022, Imran Khan had a telephonic conversation with the Microsoft founder during which they discussed important matters regarding Polio eradication and Covid-19 campaigns. The famous Microsoft icon applauded the efforts of the country in eradicating the disease of Polio as well as Pakistan’s Covid-19 campaign. In particular, he appreciated the efforts of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in Pakistan. Prime Minister Imran Khan assured Bill Gates that Pakistan’s priorities regarding Polio eradication and eliminating Covid-19 hadn’t changed. Both the premier and the Microsoft founder agreed to work together in the future.
Bill Gates also showed great interest in investing in Pakistan’s IT sector back in 2019. Pakistan’s technology zones can present opportunities for the millionaire who sees Pakistan’s IT sector as worthy of heavy investments. The Prime Minister welcomed this news, and since then, the premier has been hard at work in manifesting the vision of a digital Pakistan. A digital city has been launched in Haripur and the technology zones in Pakistan are under development. Prime Minister Imran Khan is working to establish 14 technology zones in the country. This will end up increasing the IT exports and will significantly boost Pakistan’s economy.
Imran Khan’s efforts have bore fruit and the plans for Digital Pakistan have reached a significant mark. The proof of this achievement is the recent visit of Bill Gates to Pakistan today, on 17th February 2022. He has recently arrived in Islamabad and landed at Nur Khan airbase where government officials received him. He has plans to visit NCOC (National Command and Operation Center) in Pakistan which is the country’s top platform for Covid response. According to resources, Bill Gates is also going to be briefed on Pakistan’s polio eradication programme. This speaks volumes about where Pakistan’s health sector stands in terms of Covid-19 response and polio eradication. It is also expected that Bill Gates and Prime Minister Imran Khan will also discuss matters related to technology zones and IT sector development in Pakistan.
This visit shows Pakistan’s potential for attracting potential opportunities regarding foreign investment. Only good things are expected of this visit, and it is hoped that the premier and Microsoft founder will work together to bring the dream of a Digital and Healthy Pakistan to fruition.
