Aaqib Javed, a former cricketer who played in tests, has said that he believes Shaheen Shah Afridi is a good captain and that the pacer should head the Pakistan side in Twenty20 Internationals.
During an interview with a local cricket website, Aaqib Javed spoke highly of Shaheen and said that the 23-year-old speedster achieved something that none of the captains have done during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) so far. Javed rated Shaheen very highly.
It is important to mention that Shaheen led the Lahore Qalandars to back-to-back victories in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). “He was crowned PSL champion for two years in a row. His leadership of the team and his approach to their job are both admirable qualities “Javed stated.
“Even if you add Shadab, regardless of the format, I don’t see any variants or adjustments, especially ones that are aggressive. Conversely, if you bring Rizwan into the fold, there won’t be any discernible shift in the culture. Shaheen Shah Afridi is the one to look to if Pakistan cricket is to be taken to the next level and steered in the proper path “he continued.
Shaheen became the first and only captain in the history of the Pakistan Super League to successfully defend their championship and win a second time. Lahore, spearheaded by Shaheen, triumphed against Multan Sultans on both occasions to take home the prized PSL championship.
“In both the one-day and test formats, Babar ought to continue to lead the team. With the ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2024 in mind, the national team’s Twenty20 International matches should be led as captain by Shaheen. The attitude that Shaheen takes is upbeat, and he is a courageous cricket player “Javed made this assertion.
For the first four seasons that Javed was Lahore’s coach, the team had a difficult time finding methods to win games. They were well on their way by the fifth season, when they reached the championship game and went on to win two championships in a row in 2022 and 2023.

The head coach took a lot of heat for the way his squad performed over the first four seasons of the season. Yet, the development programme that the Lahore players participated in was successful for them as they recovered their footing in the game.
