According to reports from Daily Sabah, a fundraising effort for the victims of the earthquake in Turkey that was led by eight national TV stations and other Turkish celebrities who reacted to appeals for donations raised around $6.1 billion for the victims of the earthquake.

Several Turkish television and radio stations have come together to stage a relief drive for the people who survived the earthquake that occurred a week ago. This initiative, which has been given the name “Turkey One Heart,” is the new campaign that Turkey is running to assist those who were affected by the disaster. And through this Turkish Celebrities raise $6 billion for earthquake victims in Syria and Turkey.

A massive fundraising effort was organized to assist the tens of thousands of people who were injured or killed as a result of the earthquake in Turkey and several other countries. This effort was supported by millions of people, including children, adults, businesses, religious minorities, organizations, and labor unions from Turkey and these other countries.

Celebrities including Nihat Hatipoglu, Pelin Cift, ala ikel (a former model), Acun Ilcal (a media mogul), and others from Turkish television hosted the seven-hour live fundraiser. The Turkish Celebrities raise $6 billion which is indeed a great big achievement.

Telcos in the nation also sent out over 9 million SMS messages as part of the drive. Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and the Turkish Red Crescent received donations from children, soldiers, diplomats, and CEOs of big corporations.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who joined the live webcast through a phone call, was certain that the people’s generosity will be on display by donating an unprecedented amount of money to the campaign. Moreover, he promised that 100% of the money raised will be donated to those affected by the earthquake.
