Max, a streaming service owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, has revealed that it is creating a TV show based on the horror franchise The Conjuring series. James Wan, who directed the first two films and produced the remainder, and Peter Safran, who produced the movies, will produce the series, which will continue the plot established in the feature films.

The series will be produced by Safran’s The Safran Co. and Wan’s Atomic Monster, and it will be distributed by Warner Bros. Television. Although the show’s premise has not yet been revealed, it is anticipated that it would continue to examine Ed and Lorraine Warren’s paranormal investigations, the real-life paranormal investigators who served as the movies’ main characters.

With over $2 billion in global box office receipts, Warner Bros. has seen great success with the Conjuring franchise. The Conjuring Universe film series, which currently numbers eight motion pictures, was launched with the release of the first film in 2013. The James Wan-directed film, which also stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren, was written by Chad Hayes and Carey W. Hayes.

The couple’s allegedly true stories served as the basis for The Amityville Horror and served as inspiration for the movie. In the film, the Warrens assist the Perron family in coping with horrifying paranormal occurrences that took place in their new Rhode Island house in 1971.

Horror fans who have been waiting impatiently for more content from The Conjuring Universe will no doubt be excited by the news of the new TV series. Although no writers have been assigned to the project as of yet, Safran and Wan’s involvement as producers ensures that the program will draw top talent.

Wilson and Farmiga’s return to the TV series as the Warrens is still up in the air, but given how well-liked they are with viewers, the producers would be wise to do so. Fans will have to wait for further information about the program, but given the popularity of the films, it is safe to assume that the TV program will be equally fascinating and frightful.
