The Lions were tasked with reaching a goal of 148 runs in 16.1 overs, which they accomplished with relative ease.

During the final match, which took place at the Asian Town Cricket Stadium in Doha, both of the opening batsmen for the Lions, Upul Tharanga and Tillakaratne Dilshan, hit quick half-centuries and combined 115 runs for the opening partnership in only 10 overs.

Dilshan hit 58 runs off of 42 balls with eight fours, while Tharanga hammered 57 runs off of 28 balls with five fours, three sixes, and three boundaries.

Tharanga was out for 57 after being bowled clean by Brett Lee, which brought an end to the opening partnership of 115 runs.

The Asia Lions need just 33 runs in the last 10 overs of their innings. Samit Patel bowled Dilshan for 58 runs when just 16 runs were required for the win in 41 balls. Dilshan was out when the game was won by only one run. Both Mohammad Hafeez and Misbah-ul-Haq contributed nine runs to their team’s victory, allowing them to stay unblemished as individuals.

Samit Patel, Lee, and Monty Panesar each took one wicket for the team that ultimately lost the match.

Previously, Asia Lions held World Giants to 147-4 in their innings, despite Jacques Kallis’ undefeated 78 runs off 54 balls, which included five fours and three sixes. Moreover, Kallis had a partnership with Ross Taylor for the fourth wicket that lasted 11.1 overs and produced 92 runs. During that time, Taylor struck 32 runs off 33 balls and three boundaries.

In only four overs, Razzaq had the most outstanding bowling stats for the Lions, with two wickets and fourteen runs conceded.

Tharanga, who had also struck a 50 against India Maharajas to push Asia Lions into the final, was awarded the title of Player of the Series for his performance throughout the tournament.
