On this day in 1987, a hundred thousand people gathered in Trocadéro in Paris to honor the victims of extreme poverty. They proclaimed that poverty and hunger is human rights violation and affirmed that everybody needs to come together to fight this issue. A resolution was passed by UN General Assembly on 22 December 1992, 17th October became as the International day for eradication of poverty.
In Pakistan, this week brought many great things to and for the country. The whole week was jammed packed with big events, adding more to the development and progress of Pakistan. Moreover, we have achieved significant landmarks that would improve the overall situation of the region and the world.
It has already “led to negative profiling, mob lynching by cow vigilantes, discriminatory laws, attacks on women wearing hijab, ban on minarets, and attempts to link and equate Islam with terrorism.” It has trickled down to the schools as well, where the Muslim students have been targeted and made fun of.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has returned from his four-day visit to Beijing. PM Imran Khan attended the Winter Olympic Games held in the Chinese capital Beijing. Besides the Winter Olympics, the PM also met with the Chinese leaders.
In a recent event, the religious leaders openly called for the Muslim Genocide. This has caused an uproar. Prime Minister Imran Khan slammed Modi for this inhumane act. This is a clear violation of the UN charter.
