To enhance the growth of the technology industry in Pakistan, the Ministry of Information, Technology and Telecommunication has decided to establish more software technology parks in Pakistan. Presently 22 software technology parks are operative in small cities and the aim is to develop at least 40 parks. Currently, three technology parks have been established in Islamabad, two in Rawalpindi, eight in Lahore, and one each in Karachi and Gilgit.
The Information Technology Park will provide employment opportunities to about 15,000 IT experts, students, and professionals related to the industry after its completion. The park will mitigate the shortage of infrastructure for the IT sector and enhance the competitiveness of the industry. Technology is booming all around the world and it is highly important for Pakistan to keep up with the world. With the technological dynamics constantly changing, the Ministry has realized the importance of enhancing the scope of the IT industry in the country.
Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin Ul Haque inaugurated Amazon Software Technology Park in Islamabad on 29th December, aimed at providing state-of-the-art facilities required by the industry under one roof. Amazon Software Technology Park was established in collaboration with Pakistan Software Export Board and Amazon Mall where IT professionals or companies can rent space for their business.
Under the development of the IT industry, the Ministry of Information, Technology and Telecommunication also aims to empower women. A large number of females can work as freelancers or on a project while remaining in their homes. Besides this, efforts are being made to make access to technology to small cities and towns. This initiative will not only boost the IT industry of Pakistan but also allow new business start-ups.
Pakistan’s IT industry is rapidly progressing. With technology changing every passing day, Pakistan needed to equip the country’s youth with modern technology. By developing more software technology parks, Pakistan is opening up more opportunities for its youth. With such initiatives, we hope the IT industry turns the dimensions of the country towards technological success and be recognized worldwide.
