In the recently concluded T20i World Cup, Pakistan had an amazing run. There were a lot of records made by Babar Azam, Muhammad Rizwan, etc. The match with arch-rivals India fetched the most views worldwide. The 10 wicket victory against them has been the most needed one for Pakistan. The gestures in the match showed the cricket’s spirit between the two teams. Rizwan recalled a funny exchange with Kohli during the iconic match.
Virat Kohli hugging Rizwan at the end of the historic match was a treat to watch. A picture that melted hearts and will stay there forever in our memories. The visuals won hearts all over the world declaring it as a special moment for ‘the spirit of cricket’.
Rizwan was the star performer in this match. He scored 79 runs along with Babar Azam completing the 152 runs target. The Indian batters failed to impress and the bowlers were unable to break the Pakistani opening partnership. The Indian top-order batters collapsed leaving the team in dismay.
Kohli came in along with Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper batsman) to rescue the team from embarrassment. Rishabh played a reverse sweep and was about to throw his wicket away when an lbw appeal was made against him. He was lucky enough to escape. Rizwan recalled the event as Kohli’s reaction came in spontaneously by asking Rishabh, “what are you doing? Getting everyone out inside 10 overs?” Rizwan recalled with a cheeky smile, appreciating Kohli that he is a nice person and they all belong to the cricketing fraternity.
Rizwan was able to bag numerous awards in 2021. He was declared the most valuable cricketer of the year. He made almost 2000 runs in all formats of cricket. He also caught 56 batters behind the wicket. He said that he idolizes Sachin Tendulkar and AB De Villiers. He learned a lot of tactics from them and keeps on improving. He also picked things from Misbah ul Haq, Shoaib Malik, as he says.
