Good news for PIA in 2022!!! They have been given a green signal to fly over Europe and the EU. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has given clearance to PIA to resume flights. We are thrilled to know that.

PIA holds the record of the longest non-stop flight from London to Karachi in 6 hours, 43 minutes, and 51 seconds in 1962. In 2005, the PIA flight from Hong Kong to London was the longest for 22 hours and 22 minutes.

Due to safety concerns, the national flag carrier was barred from operating in Europe in July 2020 by European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The ICAO had stopped issuing the licenses due to safety concerns. An audit was conducted from November 29 to December 10. The ICAO had expressed satisfaction that PIA has addressed the safety concerns by withdrawing the objection they had earlier.  PIA can now operate in Europe and the EU.

According to Aviation Expert, “This is good news for the Pakistani aviation industry as world’s ultimate aviator regulator has restored its confidence in Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). This leaves no justification for Europe and US to keep their airspace closed for Pakistani airlines.” He stated that PIA intends to expand its operations from Manchester to New York and Houston.

The Civil Aviation Authority has started contacting its counterparts in Europe and the EU to resume flights. The expansion of its operation will help connect to more destinations. We wish PIA good luck and hope that it restores its glory of the past.

Are you heading towards Europe for your winter vacations or planning to visit Pakistan? You are right in time. Book your flights and enjoy!
