Elon Musk vs Mark Zuckerberg, two of the most well-known tech billionaires in the world, have decided to fight in a cage match.
Mr. Musk said he was “up for a cage fight” with Mr. Zuckerberg on his social media site, Twitter.
Meta is planning to start its own Twitter competitor as soon as Thursday. This is a threat to Elon Musk’s company, as Twitter users are unhappy with how he is running the social media site.
An entry on the Apple App Store says that Threads, Meta’s new app, will be out on July 6. Like Twitter, it will be a text-based site where people can post messages that other people can reply to, like, or share.
Meta’s famous photo-sharing platform, Instagram, will be directly linked to Threads, so users can quickly move their usernames and followers to the new app. “Thread is a place for communities to talk about everything from the things that matter to you right now to what will be popular tomorrow.” read what the App Store says about it.
It is not clear how big the spread will be or if the app will also be available on Android.
Meta’s new release is a direct threat to Twitter, and it comes at a time when many Twitter users have been looking for options since Elon Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion in October.
