After his bout with Kell Brook in 2022, a doping test on former British boxer Amir Khan banned for two years for the usage of a banned drug.
According to the Daily Mail, UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) obtained Khan’s urine sample, which had an adverse analytical finding for ostarine.
On April 6, 2022, Khan was advised of this along with a temporary ban.
The 36-year-old acknowledged the infractions but claimed that the “ingestion of Ostarine was not purposeful.”
Amir Khan, a professional boxer and Olympic medalist, has been restricted from participating in any sport for two years due to anti-doping rule violations including the presence and usage of a prohibited drug, according to a statement from UKAD.
Ostarine is a Selective Androgen Receptor Modulator (SARM), a medication developed to mimic the effects of testosterone, according to UKAD. In the UK or anyplace else in the globe, it is not permitted for use in human food. Ostarine is often found in dietary supplements that enhance muscular growth.
It should be mentioned that Amir ended his professional life in May of last year.
The British boxer has won 34 of his 40 matches to become the undisputed world champion at light welterweight.
The 2004 Olympic silver medalist established a reputation for himself by winning his first 18 professional matches.
Khan won a super-lightweight match against Andriy Kotelnik of the Ukraine in 2009 to become the world champion. Two years later, Khan defeated Zab Judah of the United States to add the International Boxing Federation (IBF) title to his collection.
Khan’s last contest of his professional career, which was halted in the sixth round, ended in a loss against Kell Brook in Manchester in February.
Given that Khan has not competed since his defeat to Brook, his penalty, which has been retroactively applied to the period of the temporary suspension, will end in April 2024.
UKAD chief executive Jane Rumble stated, “This case serves as a reminder that UKAD will zealously prosecute Anti-Doping Rule Violations in order to defend clean sport.”
“Strict responsibility” refers to the idea that athletes are ultimately liable for what they consume and if any illegal drugs were present in a sample.

No matter what level they are competing at, it is critical that all athletes and the people who support them take their anti-doping obligations seriously.
“Failure to do so runs the danger of harming an athlete’s career as well as the public’s faith in ethical competition.
