Pakistan Gives Formula For Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Pakistan Gives Formula For Russia-Ukraine Conflict – Akram told the formula to the Geo News in an interview. He said, “Three steps should be taken to end the war; ceasefire, negotiation, and implementation of the previous agreements.”

Pakistan is a strong advocate for peace. Our representatives have always worked tirelessly to increase regional connectivity and maintain the best possible relations we can have with other countries. Pakistani officials have also expressed a strong desire to not pick any sides and head towards a more diplomatic direction whenever a conflict arises. In a similar spirit, Pakistan’s desire to seek peaceful resolutions for both Ukraine and Russia has been made public thanks to Aljazeera. In a statement issued before Putin’s and Imran Khan’s one-to-one meeting, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry claimed that Imran Khan regretted the latest situation between Russia and Ukraine and hoped that diplomacy could be established. This was released before the start of the war.

It is worthy of mention that Pakistan is exercising great care to maintain neutrality on the matter. In an expression for peace resolution, while at the same time showcasing neutrality upon the matter, Pakistan has recently given a three-point formula for the war between Russia and Ukraine. Pakistan’s permanent representative at United Nations, Munir Akram presented this three-point formula on Thursday to address the Ukraine and Russia crisis.

Akram told the formula to the Geo News in an interview. He said, “Three steps should be taken to end the war; ceasefire, negotiation, and implementation of the previous agreements.”

Though this formula is simple, it could end up saving a lot of lives and putting an end to the war. Akram also emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to the UN’s charter. He stated that the country wants consistency in the implementation of UN principles in every matter. The war can only be resolved as per the UN Charter, said Akram. He further added that Imran Khan had told Putin about this during his meeting with the Russian president.

Displaying Pakistan’s neutrality on the matter, the country abstained from voting in UNGA. This raised many questions about where Pakistan stands in the matter of war. Responding to those questions, the Pakistani UN representative said that Islamabad has taken this decision in the favor of national interest. He also gave the example of China who among 35 countries refused to vote. According to Munir Akram, if they end up taking a side in this matter, no room for diplomacy would be left.

A decision like this is in favor of the national interest of Pakistan. Where our ministers are fighting off the inflation and rising economic issues, getting dragged into a foreign conflict will not be a favorable turn of events.
