Microsoft Imagine Cup is one of the biggest student technology competitions. It is one of the amazing opportunities for student technologists, entrepreneurs as well as developers from academic backgrounds to come forth and present their market-worthy ideas. It is a chance for the brightest young minds to develop technological applications that can be developed into large-scale ideas. Depending on which innovation is the best, the winning team takes USD 10,000 with them, along with the mentorship of the Microsoft CEO. The aim of the Microsoft Imagine Cup is to bridge the gap between technology and students.
This year, Microsoft Imagine Cup 2022 was held in Pakistan. It was organized by Higher Education Commission (HEC) in conjunction with Microsoft. The 2022 edition was the Olympics of Technology. The event was very grand, as it included the participation of over 700 teams in Pakistan.
Among those 700 teams, the UET Peshawar students’ team, “Reliance” won the competition. Their project was, “Healthcare 360” which was the ultimate winner. Team Reliance also secured 9th position among thousands of international teams participating in the competition. Healthcare 360 itself is a one-stop shop that aims to remove all the problems that the healthcare sector is facing. The project intends to empower people through technology. It intends to develop a full-fledged platform to cater to the healthcare needs of a person in 360 ways. It not only solves many problems but also provides impressive solutions to the problems that people are facing. It was developed by the final year students of UET’s Department of Computer Systems Engineering. The students named Raja Ahmad, Syeda Fatima Ashoor, Ashley Alex Jacob, and Affifa Zainab Ahmad are the brilliant minds that developed this project.
The Team Reliance has received USD 10,000 from Microsoft to upscale their startup. Proud of the achievement, the UET Vice-Chancellor has applauded their efforts for making both the country and university proud on such a prestigious international platform.
