When 2021 started, most people had no idea what an NFT was. But now, as this year is coming to an end, almost everyone is looking at the different kinds of NFT’s being sold every day. For those who still do not know, NFT’s are Non-Fungible Tokens. They are the recent addition to Cryptocurrency and are one of a kind.
NFT’s are certificates that are linked to the digital blockchains, which enables them to remain unique. They cannot be shared, copied, divided and are a digital art form. Because of their uniqueness, NFT’s are being sold in cryptocurrency and they do amount up to millions of dollars in the world.
Here we have compiled a list of the top 5 most expensive sold NFT’s:
Everydays – the first 5000 days sold for $69.3 million:
The most expensive sold NFT ever and is credited to Mike Beeple. The story behind this picture is simple. Beeple has been posting pictures online since 2007, and this NFT is a collage of 5000 pictures he shared. This was sold for ETH worth $69.3 million.

This CryptoPunk is the second most expensive NFT sold for a whopping $11.8 million. The artist sold this ‘Covid Alien’ in Sotheby’s auction house in June 2021. This is one of the most sought-after alien punks all over the world.

This is one of the nine rare teal-colored alien CryptoPunks created by Larva Labs. This NFT wears a white and blue headband. It was sold in March for ETH worth $7.58 million.
CryptoPunk – ID# 7804 sold for $7.57 million:
This NFT is Dylan Field’s way of replicating the Mona Lisa, in his own way. In this art piece, the CryptoPunk is seen with a cap and sunglasses and then a pipe in his mouth, making him the alien version of Mona Lisa. This was sold for ETH worth $7.57 million.
Crossroads by Beeple sold for $6.66 million:
This NFT from the digital artist Beeple was sold for ETH worth $6.66 million and made a political statement. The artist wanted to make fun of former President Donald Trump’s defeat. On the contrary, if Trump had won, the artist would have shown a crown on Trump’s face instead of making him look like a clown.
People are claiming that NFTs are the new art forms. They have certainly managed to shake the way we used to view art. If recent predictions are correct, then, in the next 5 years, NFTs will become bigger than the iconic Mona Lisa.
