The Sahara Desert is situated in Northern Africa. 11 North African countries share their entities in the mighty Sahara Desert. An endless number of huge dunes, warm climate, humidity, and no shadows, are the things that come to our mind when we think of the Sahara Desert. Recently, the world witnessed snow in the Sahara Desert, a rare but not unheard of scenario. This is only the fifth time in history when it has snowed in the Sahara Desert. The first time it snowed in the mighty desert was in the year 1979. It has snowed four times in the last 6 years, from 2016 to 2022. There is a lot of science and climatology behind this but the bottom line is climate change and global warming.
We as South Asians are helping Sahara get snow
It has snowed in the Sahara Desert only in the Ain Sefra district, a Northwestern town in Algeria near the Moroccan border. This has rung alarms all around the globe. Experts say that we will need to have an unbearable high temperature to survive in South Asia by the end of this century. Having snow in Sahara, extremely warm weather in summers in South Asia, cyclones, and wind storms in North American countries show the seriousness of the matter.
The western world started industrialization in the 19th century. They showed the world how to progress through industrialization, now when the poor Asian and African countries are trying to seek development, the researchers and scientists prohibit us to do so. The third world countries look up and ask them, Kiya yeh khula taza’ad nahi?
It’s the time when we have to look at ourselves and ask ourselves, what are we doing to the beautiful nature as a nation? Our country is covered with smog throughout the winters. Seeing a clear blue sky in our cities has become a dream for us. Our neighboring country is burning crops near the border area to fill our air with pollution.
Snow in the Sahara desert is a warning. This is the time when the issue of global warming has to be taken very seriously by every country and its citizens. Glaciers are melting and we are getting unnatural floods in our country, as Pakistanis snow in the Sahara Desert is a lesson to be learned.
Allah humara hafiz hai
It may seem like snow in the Sahara Desert is a great treat for our eyes, as the sand and the snow are making a beautiful contrast. But after scientists dig deep into the real reasons it is a horrifying situation to nature. The world is worried and in search of finding ways to cope with the alarming situation. But we here as a nation are sitting back calmly, dealing with our basic issues because we stick to our fundamental belief that hifazat karne wala upar hai, zindagi aur maut us k haath mein hai, and not showing any signs of care towards the world which God has created.
