Picture this. You are currently using your laptop or mobile app. Let’s assume that you are a Reddit user and you just sat down to view the social media platform. If you logged in recently or within two days, your first attention will go towards the ‘place tile’ option at the top. The moment you log in, you will see complex artwork. It is interesting to know that if you had logged in the first time the r/place was uploaded, you would have seen the blank canvas. You would be allowed to place a colored tile on the blank canvas. Then, somewhere along the world will place another colored tile there. It wouldn’t seem like much but after a while, the results would speak for themselves.
You can see that what first started off as a blank canvas now transformed into a full-blown artwork. The communal artwork had some of the best and most artistic moments on the internet. While we were busy in scrolling on the Facebook, Redditors were having the time of their lives. It is worthy of mention that the setting on the subreddit “r/place” reboots after every five minutes. This means that every time you place a tile, you have a five minutes window and after that, you can place another colored tile.

The canvas took many forms during the last two days it has been live. Some went even as far as dividing the complete artwork in various phases.
During the artistic hours, the redditors had some of the best artworks created and destroyed within a matter of hours. Most interesting among them were the star wars posters.
There were also many interesting renaissance posters that relived the old times through the powers of raw pixels.
The hackers emerged with their unique style of art. The vandalism was truly up to the par with the artwork shown on the gigantic canvas.
