Dubai is home to 1.5 million Pakistanis. A lot of Pakistanis have been given the ‘Golden Visa’ as well. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi is in Dubai to attend Dubai Expo 2020, where he inaugurated different projects to facilitate the overseas Pakistanis in Dubai. The major highlight of the visit was that Pakistan Consulate General introduced One-Window Operation for passport renewal.
Pleased to be in the #UAE and to have met members of Pakistan’s diaspora. UAE is home to over 1.5m Pakistanis and it is their drive and determination that continues to serve as a bond between UAE & Pakistan, as we celebrate 50 years of friendship. #PakUAEAt50 🇵🇰 🇦🇪 pic.twitter.com/c3qkCUBpbQ

Pakistan Pavillion
The Pakistan Pavillion had already made headlines in 2021. To date, more than a million people have visited it. It is an ‘Immersive and engaging hybrid art installation: your visual invitation to the land of colors,’ and ‘Rediscover Pakistan’s culture of hospitality based on historical and religious traditions.’
FM Visits Dubai
FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi visited Dubai, where he inaugurated different projects on behalf of the Prime Minister to facilitate overseas Pakistanis. These projects are:
- Roshan Digital Accounts Wall: This initiative will help in providing all kinds of information regarding Roshan Digital Accounts to the 30,000-35,000 Pakistanis who visit the Consulate every month
- Newly constructed Consular Hall at the Consulate to provide convenience to the Pakistani community
- One Window Counter at the Consulate for passports renewal
- A Call Center at the Consulate to provide the Pakistani community with proper information. It can listen to one thousand calls daily.
One Window Operation
Pakistan Consulate General in Dubai has introduced a one-window operation for passport renewals. This will make the process hassle-free and will curb delays in the renewal process.
He said, “I am pleased to see the new facilities as our mission in Dubai is the first in the world to introduce a one-window operation for the passport section. We will replicate the same model at our other ‘crowded’ missions, including in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries.”
All in one place
One-window operation for passport renewal means no long queues, no taking off from work. One token number for all the procedures, which includes applying biometrics, photographs, verification, and signing of the application. An online passport renewal option is also available.
FM also invited the OIC Foreign Ministers to take part in the Council of Foreign Ministers 2022, which is to be held in March (22nd-23rd).
This is a good initiative for overseas Pakistani, who had to go through a long process. This will facilitate them with no problem.
