The educational institutions have been working hard to make sure that we compete with the international standards. Some of the universities that are known include QAU, NUST, LUMS, etc. They have made records in the past and made sure to produce the best and most intelligent brains. LUMS Vice Chancellor Dr. Arshad Ahmad has been awarded the ‘AIB International Educator of the Year for 2022’ by the Academy of International Business (AIB). This is indeed a proud moment for us.
He is the first recipient from a South Asian university to receive this prestigious award. Dr. Arshad made it to the list of distinguished educators from Europe, North and South America, Australia, and China who have received this award previously. He will be inducted on 8th July 2022 at AIB’s annual international conference in Miami(USA).
Dr. Ahmad completed his Ph. D from McGill University in Educational Psychology. His expertise lies in ‘student evaluations of teaching, approaches to teaching, teaching philosophies, and student partnerships.’ Some of the positions that he held over the years are:
- Professor of Finance at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada for 20 years
- Vice-Provost, Teaching and Learning, and Director of the MacPherson Institute at McMaster University- 2014.
- Chair of Teaching and Learning, Canada
- President of the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, Canada
- Vice President of the International Consortium of Educational Developers, Canada
- 3M National Teaching Fellowship–Canada’s-1992
- Vice-Chancellor of LUMS University-2018
AIB is a global organization for international business and management scholars, established in 1959. Its membership is for more than 70 countries across the world. It aims for ‘excellence in education by advancing the highest professional standards in international business and management.’
Dean of the AIB Fellows, Dr. Lorraine Eden, congratulated Dr. Arshad for his valuable contributions “to enhancing transdisciplinary, global learning and education among students, scholars, managers, and leaders worldwide”. Dr. Arshad thanked AIB, “this award is a tribute to 35 years of excellence at LUMS and its relentless commitment to innovation and the transformation of education through inclusive, global learning networks.”
Dr. Arshad’s colleagues at LUMS Mr. Shahid Husain, Rector of LUMS, and Dr. Tariq Jadoon, Interim Provost congratulated him on this prestigious award. Honorary Dean of the LUMS Suleman Dawood School of Business, Dr. Alnoor Bhimani said, “Dr. Ahmad is transforming the educational landscape in South Asia and beyond. His transdisciplinary learning initiatives that interconnect subjects bring about the most positive student-teacher experiences. His ideas make him a world-class educational leader.”
We are truly proud of such an educator amongst us. Such people are a motivation and inspiration for the young generation. Determination leads you to the path of success. We hope and wish that more such people come to the forefront and guide the students for a better Pakistan.
