Amber Heard had done a successful role as Queen Mera in Aquaman 1, and she had been cast for the same role in Aquaman 2. However, due to recent backlash from fans, DC has to either make a bold choice or risk losing a lot of fans.
Amber Heard Is Still In Aquaman 2
Some people will surely be disappointed and DC might lose its fans further for this exact reason. She is still in the movie, as confirmed by the producer and director of Aquaman 2. She will still be playing the role of Queen Mera, who is a better fit for a monarch than Arthur. The reason could be that once the cast had been set and the product credits had already been spent massively, it would be very hard to find a replacement.
However, the director has done what he could to reduce the role of Amber Heard in Aquaman 2. A fight scene that involved Mera has been cut out completely. Her role has mostly been reduced to cameo level, and most of the film will steer away from her role. It is clear though that Amber Heard will not appear as Queen Mera again in the world of Aquaman. Furthermore, it is quite vague what the future holds for the actress in the world of DC.
