A movie made for and about Sindhis! Rahul Aijaz is prepared for equitable representation of Sindhi culture and cinema in order to end the 26-year drought of not having a single feature film in the Sindhi language.

Later this year, Pakistan will release Indus Echoes, a feature film in Sindhi. Rahul Aijaz, an entertainment journalist, wrote, directed, and produced the masterpiece movie. Lollywood star Shamoon Abbasi, Akhtiar Ali Kalwar, and Vajdaan Shah served as executive producers.

The fact that production firms and actors from Pakistan, South Korea, and Ecuador worked together internationally to create the movie sets it apart.

Indus Echoes, starring Samina Seher, Ansaar Mahar, and Vajdaan Shah, is now in post-production.

“Through five stories set on, across, and near the Indus, Indus Echoes examines the relationship between people and the mighty Indus River. The tales explore both how the river has helped us through the years and how we treat it. Its summary reads, “It’s about the push-and-pull, love-hate relationship we have with the Indus that brought us life, civilization, and culture.

While Aijaz’s upcoming feature, Indus Echoes, will give Sindhi cinema a fresh perspective, his earlier work, the 2020 short film A Train Crosses the Desert, has set the way. The short was the first Pakistani production in Sindhi to have an international release.

Indus Echoes will first be screened at film festivals before receiving a global theatrical distribution, according to Aijaz, who has been studying at the Busan Asian Film School in South Korea since the end of March.
