On May 1st, people throughout the world celebrate May Day. The primary objective is to defend the rights of the working class and ensure that they are not exploited in any way, shape, or form.
Workers need to be made aware of the resources that may help them improve their lives and advance in their careers.
History:
It was the 19th-century American labour union movement that gave rise to the tradition of celebrating May Day. Workers should not be required to put in more than eight hours a day, according to a resolution passed at the 1889 Marxist International Socialist Congress. After then, it was repeated every year.
It was decreed that annually May 1st be observed as “Workers Day of International Unity and Solidarity” by workers in Paris and France.
The American Federation of Organised Trades and Labour Unions advocated for a shorter workweek of eight hours in that year, 1884. This sparked a worldwide strike and the Haymarket (Chicago) Riot, all of which contributed to the eventual adoption of the eight-hour working legislation.
In a lot of countries, this day is a public holiday. People are reminded of their work rights through a variety of events. Messages about workers’ rights are also sent out through many different routes.
