Xiaomi is a China-based tech company that was initially launched as a software company in 2010. Later on, the company started manufacturing and selling mobiles at cheaper prices than the others in the market. Currently, the company sells home appliances, mobiles, smart home devices, mobile apps, and wearables. Xiaomi is the leading mobile manufacturer in Europe, India, and many other countries. Moreover, in 2021, it surpassed Apple and became the second-largest mobile manufacturer. In Fortune Global 500 companies, Xiaomi stands at the 334th position.
Air Link Communication Ltd.
Air Link founded in 2011 is a Pakistan-based mobile manufacturer and distributor company. It is known to be the official distributor of Huawei, Samsung, iPhone, Tecno, TCL, iTel and Xiaomi Mobiles in Pakistan. Air link communication is operating successfully for the past 45 years in the region. Air Link enjoys a strong presence in Pakistan and is one of the leading distributors of mobiles in the country. Huawei awarded Air Link with the title of “Sustainable Channel Growth Partner” and “Platinum National Distributor.”
Xiaomi and Air Link partnership
Air Link and Xiaomi have partnered up to open a mobile manufacturing facility in Pakistan. The facility is to be inaugurated by President Arif Alvi on March 4th, 2022. The project is estimated to generate a revenue of $550 million through Xiaomi mobile sales. Air Link upon this collaboration said, “It’s a historic event for our country where Xiaomi, one of the largest smartphone companies, is kicking off production in Pakistan by joining hands with Select Technologies Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Air Link.” The company further added, “This production facility is a step forward in the direction of PM’s vision of ‘Make in Pakistan’ and will have a huge impact on Pakistan’s economy resulting in the export of locally-produced Xiaomi mobile phones.”
This partnership will result in opening new avenues for the mobile manufacturing sector of Pakistan. The goal here is to equip Pakistan with enough resources so that it can start manufacturing mobiles on its own and then export them. This will help Pakistan to rely less on imports and suffice the tech requirements through domestic products.
