Sensational Record Run Chase by Pakistan in World Cup Against Sri Lanka

Pakistan pulled a magnificent win against Sri Lanka in the eighth match of the ICC men’s cricket World Cup 2023. It was a high scoring match in Hyderabad India. This win will give Pakistan great bit confidence ahead of the match against India on 14th of October.
Batting first on a flat wicket Sri Lanka put on a big total of 344 runs on scoreboard for the loss of 9 wickets in their 50 overs. Pakistan took first wicket quickly to set the tone. But this didn’t stop Sri Lanka stay on the back foot. The Sri Lankan batters kept on maintain a high run rate. Pakistani bowlers were hit for runs all around the ground. Islanders put some great partnerships to reach 283 runs after 40 overs. On this stage it was looking like Sri Lanka will score more then 375 runs with the rate the were scoring runs. In last 10 overs Pakistani bowlers came back strong and conceded only 61 runs in last 10 overs. Sri Lanka ended with 344 runs in their innings.
Two superb centuries were witnessed in the Sri Lankan innings. Kusal Mendis an aggressive 127 of 77 balls. Sandeera Samarawickaranka had 108 runs under his belt. For Pakistan the come back pacer Hasan Ali took 4 wickets, 2 wickets were taken by Haris Rauf.
In reply Pakistan had a slow start. Chasing 345 Pakistan lost 2 wickets only for 37 runs on the board. In first 10 overs Pakistan were 48 runs for lose of 2 wickets. At this stage the total of 345 was looking very hard to chase. But Muhammad Rizwan and Abdullah Shafique batted superbly. Both batters paced the innings smoothly and keeping wickets in hand as well. Rizwan and Shafique put on 176 runs for the third wickets before the opener lost is wicket after a brilliant innings of 119 runs. Saud Shakeel and Iftikhar Ahmed then stood with Muhammad Rizwan to complete a world record run chase.
Rizwan remained not out on 131 runs. This was the highest run chase in the 48 years of World Cup history. Pakistan is looking in good rhythm in world cup.
Pakistan will play there most awaited next match against India on Saturday.
