Peshawar Zalmi defeated Quetta Gladiators, claiming second place in the points standings. Peshawar Zalmi successfully chased down Quetta Gladiators’ 155-run mark with nine balls left in the ninth match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi on Monday.

After Gladiators’ Mohammad Hasnain’s carnage with the ball early in the second innings, James Neesham and Rovman Powell saved Zalmi.

Peshawar Zalmi defeated Quetta Gladiators to take second place on the points standings.The two batsmen combined for a match-saving 46 runs as Zalmi defeated Gladiators by four wickets in their second victory of the competition.

After setting Zalmi a target of 155 runs, Hasnain helped Gladiators get off to a solid start with the ball, taking up three fast wickets during the powerplay.

Hasnain quickly picked up Mohammad Haris, Saim Ayub, and Tom Kohler-Cadmore, giving Gladiators an excellent opportunity.

Gladiators, on the other hand, lost control once Powell and Neesham took over the innings. Powell had 36 runs, while Neesham had the highest run rate of 37 for Zalmi.

Hasnain bowled excellently for Gladiators, picking up three wickets in four overs and bowling a maiden in the last over.

Mohammad Nawaz, Naseem Shah, and Qais Ahmed each got one wicket.

Earlier, Iftikhar Ahmed demonstrated his worth again again by scoring a hard-fought 50 for Gladiators.

Gladiators, who batted first, lost three wickets for 37 runs in nine overs. Their openers got off to a sluggish start as Zalmi bowlers took control of the game early on.

Gladiators had to confront the heat early on as Jason Roy (14), Martin Guptill (12), and Mohammad Nawaz (2) were bowled out. However, captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and Iftikhar joined forces to use their expertise and create a match-saving combination feasible for the side in purple.

They both made 74 runs off 50 balls before being clean bowled by Arshad Iqbal in the seventeenth over.

Iftikhar continued to score for his side despite Sarfaraz’s wicket. He hit his fourth PSL 50 in only 34 balls. Sarfaraz, on the other hand, scored 38 runs with five boundaries.

Iftikhar batted for 50 minutes, hitting four maximums and two boundaries. Odean Smith finished with a cameo of 25 off 12 balls.

Usman Qadir took two wickets for Zalmi, while James Neesham and Arshad each took one.

Gladiators and Zalmi each have two points after two games, putting them in fourth and fifth place on the points table, respectively. The winner of today’s match, on the other hand, ascended to second place on the standings.
