Pakistan overtook India to move into second place among the world’s top teams in ICC ODI Rankings. Australia continues to be ranked first in the ODI Rankings, while India drops to third.
The ICC announced in a press release that “Australia have retained their position at the top of the ICC ODI Rankings following the annual update that drops results from the 2019–20 season and reflects all matches completed since May 2020.”
“After the upgrade, which weights matches performed before May 2022 at 50% and matches after that at 100%, Australia is two rating points ahead of Pakistan at 118 points.
“Pakistan, who briefly held the top spot on May 5 before dropping back to second place after losing the last ODI of their five-match home series against New Zealand, is on 116 points, one more than India.
Shortly after capturing the top place for the first time in history, the national team’s reign at the top of the ICC ODI Rankings came to an end.
If Pakistan had won the series against New Zealand 5-0, they would have retained their top spot in the Rankings even after the yearly update.
