Prime Minister Imran Khan has returned from his four-day visit to Beijing. PM Imran Khan attended the Winter Olympic Games held in the Chinese capital Beijing. Besides the Winter Olympics, the PM also met with the Chinese leaders. Though the updates related to the Winter Olympics were all over the media. The details of this visit were revealed after PM Imran Khan returned to Pakistan. It seems like this visit was a big hit. The leaders of both countries discussed several matters. Many memorandums of understanding were signed between both countries. Khan Sahab also met with people from the business community. Can we expect more Chinese business in Pakistan? We can see Pak-China bilateral cooperation in various areas. This visit has furthered this cooperation even more. Before returning to Pakistan, Imran Khan met the Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing’s Great Hall of People. The two leaders met last time in 2019.
Leaders of both countries exchanged their viewpoints regarding the national and international issues of mutual interest. The PM also talked about the government policies based on economic growth keeping individuals at the center of it. Pakistan’s policies related to regional integration, sustainable and industrial development, and the modernization of agriculture were also discussed.
The main highlights of this meeting were regional stability, issues related to COVID, pandemic and climate, CPEC, and Pak-China cordiality.
Regional Stability
Regional Stability is one of the core interests of both countries. The situation In Kashmir and Afghanistan are threatening for the whole region. During the meeting, PM shared his views on Kashmir where human rights violations have crossed all limits. Moreover, India’s ruthless behavior toward the minorities in India is creating serious concerns for the whole region.
Both leaders also talked about advancing peace in Afghanistan. Regional connectivity, stability, and economic growth are only possible with a peaceful Afghanistan. Both countries ensured to render every possible effort for stabilizing Afghanistan. The international community was also called upon to take collective action to help Afghanistan in this perilous situation.
Need for collective action
The PM also shared his thoughts regarding the threats posed by climate change, pandemics, and the struggling economies. This pandemic has exposed the vulnerabilities of the developing countries and even now the disparity between the developed and developing countries is ever-growing. There is a need to empower the developing countries with resources so that they can work their way to development. The PM suggested that all these could be overcome with a unified action from all nations according to the UN Charter’s principles and goals.

Imran Khan also appreciated the efforts of China trying to bring the culture of sustainable government and benefits-to-all parties through the Belt and Road Initiative.
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor
CPEC second phase investments were lauded as they are aimed at bringing industrial development and enhancing the living standards of people. He also appreciated China for helping Pakistan improve its socio-economic landscape. These efforts of China could be seen in the development of CPEC.

Pak-China bilateral cooperation
During the visit, Imran Khan is reported to have signed many agreements related to cooperation in areas concerning space, vaccines, and industry. Both the leaders reassured that they are keen on setting things right to further the cordiality between the two countries. Moreover, PM also invited the Chinese President to Pakistan
