Pakistan Allocated Rs. 1.5 Billion for Electric Car Vehicles

Only last year in October, the Green Stimulus Initiative was launched. This initiative has several ongoing projects that will focus on generating at least 200,000 new jobs and restoring ecosystems by planting more trees and improving sanitation facilities. Now, as part of this initiative, the Ministry of Climate Change (MCOC) has made a smart move that will put us on the roadmap of progress. MCOC is the responsible entity for ensuring the funds of Rs 1.5 billion for introducing electric vehicles in Pakistan.

Electric vehicles

The prime minister has launched a new scheme which is bound to solve all your petroleum-related problems. This just in, Pakistan has allocated Rs. 1.5 billion for electric car vehicles. Considering how we are constantly dodging the bullets in terms of petrol price hikes; this new initiative might just be what you are looking for.

If we can afford the new electric cars, no longer will we have to stare in dread at the petrol meters, but DON’T WORRY. The electric transport will be made public first. Tou ab petrol nahe tou koi fikar nahe!

There seems to be a constant tug of war between the crises and positive developments in Pakistan. Some of the people in the government sector have been hard at work in generating new jobs and making Pakistan greener than ever. Prime Minister Imran Khan is set on cleaning the Pakistani air, launching many plantations drives in the past year.

This not just bodes well for improving the air quality in Pakistan but also for the overall economy. Nearly all our transportation depends on petrol. If a new line of electric vehicles is initiated in the country, our dependency on petrol might be reduced. In the wake of the petroleum shortage, this can especially come in handy.

The news of this development was given by the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, Malik Amin Aslam. He emphasized that Pakistan needs to adopt the first-ever Electric Vehicles (EV) Policy to reap its full benefits. The EV Policy, recently developed, aims to increase the number of electric vehicles on the road up to 1 million.

Malik Amin Aslam further explained that making safe, affordable, and emission-free vehicles available to citizens is part of the EV Policy.

If you travel by Metro Bus or you want to travel from Islamabad Zoo to the Monal, you might want to ride on these electric buses as those are the routes where they will be made available first, according to the Green Stimulus Initiative.

The EV Policy is bound to produce positive outcomes for Pakistan’s future. These EV-related initiatives will boost Pakistan’s economy and clear the path for a greener country. It doesn’t hurt to breathe in fresher air without the risk of getting lung cancer.
