“Rain, rain go away.” This phrase is the anthem of millions of cricket fans around the globe. The Arch Rivals Pakistan and India infrequently play cricket matches. Once a match is scheduled between these two teams, fans from around the world wait for this match for months, tickets for this encounter go sold out within minutes. Media and fans start talking about the match from months before the match day. Pakistan vs India match is called “Mother of all matches” in cricket. Fans not only from Pakistan and India, but cricket lovers around the globe glue themselves to TV screens when its Pakistan playing against India.
In Asia Cup 2023, these two cricketing giants were expected to face each other three possible times. In the second match of Group A Pakistan and India faced each other for the first time in the calendar year. The most awaited game was washed out by rain and the match ended in a tie. The cricket enthusiasts were disappointed, yet they were anxious to see both teams in the Super 4 stage. The match between Pakistan and India was supposed to held on September 10th. Rain was predicted in Colombo on the matchday. Millions of fans were hoping, wishing and praying that the match gets completed this time around.
How the Game Went
It was the encounter day between Pakistan and India on Sunday. Both captains walk for toss on time. Pakistan wins the toss and puts India into bat, hoping to repeat a start like the one in their previous meeting. But the things don’t go according to plan for Pakistan. This time around the Indian openers looked more prepared. They took on Pakistani attack bowlers and they played aggressively. Shubman Gill hit Shaheen Shah Afridi for t
hree fours in one over. The openers put on a partnership of 121 runs for the first wicket. Then both openers Rohit and Shubman got out rather quickly, both players scored a half century each.
After Pakistan and India, rain also played a role in the game. It interrupted the proceedings to call off the game on the respective day, the match will resume today. India will continue at 147 at loss of 2 wickets after 24.1 overs. Virat Kohli and K. L. Rahul were
playing for India when rain disrupted the match on the scheduled day. In hope of a result and completion of the biggest game of cricket Asian Cricket Council (ACC) had decided to have a reserve day.
All the cricket lovers and fans are hoping to see a result out of the match. There is prediction of heavy rain today as well. The whole Asia Cup was supposed to be held in Pakistan before BCCI refused to play in Pakistan. If the tournament
was wholly held in Pakistan, fans would have seen matches without any delay.
