The issue of Kashmir is a highly sensitive topic. Whenever 5th February arrives, Twitter and Facebook are filled with Pakistani posts expressing solidarity for the people of the disputed territory. Unfortunately, not everyone shares the same sentiment. Conflicts erupt on the social media platforms regarding Modi’s atrocities taking place in Kashmir. Indians are offended by anything that sparks truth or a bit of investigation about their beloved leader who is responsible for a lot of war crimes in disputed territory.
Only recently, DC Studios was caught in the crosshairs of Indian people as they showed a clip of Superman shooting down several planes in Kashmir, calling it a disputed territory. Now, it seems they have been offended once more due to a solidarity post expressed by a Pakistani about Kashmir.
What caused the conflict is a deeply thought-provoking matter and makes one think a great deal about the kind of propaganda that Indians have been fed by their media. Hyundai Motors is a South Korean multinational automotive manufacturer with its branches extending across the entire world. The Pakistani Branch shared a tweet about expressing solidarity with the Kashmiri people. This fumed a spark of conflict in India and caused a severe backlash across the nation. Hyundai faced the heat as many Indians, caught in some patriotic trance, decided to cancel their orders from Hyundai Motors as punitive measures. According to the sentiment that is revolving in the country, Indians are urging Hyundai Motors to apologize for its insensitive comments on India’s position in the decades-old feud.
The Hyundai Indian unit was quick to respond to the furor, stating that it has a zero-tolerance towards insensitive communication and they strongly condemn any such view.

Hyundai is currently India’s second-largest car seller, with its sales reaching up to half a million units per year. Commenting on this boycott, an official named Ashwani Mahajan at the economic wing of a powerful Hindu nationalist group with close ties to PM, said that Hyundai should clarify its position regarding Kashmir. He further commented on how the Indian Unit of Hyundai is not clarifying that Kashmir belongs to India, and this speaks volumes about their views.
Seeing the 1.25% decline in Hyundai’s share in India, one is given a glimpse of how the brands can suffer due to ongoing conflicts among countries. The issue of Kashmir is quite a sensitive one and we often see conflicts as well as riots in both Pakistan and India regarding the matter.
