Other than Samina Baig being the first Pakistani Female Mountaineer, we have Samar Khan who has also successfully summited mountain Peaks. Being a cyclist and an Adventure athlete she has successfully summited and snowboarded 5610 m virgin peak. She has other team members Azam Baig, Hashir Rafique, Jaffar Ullah, and Zehran Baig who accompanied her. It is indeed a proud moment for us to have youngsters like Samar inspiring the youth to go beyond the mountains.
Hailing from Dir, KP she has set a new culture of backcountry snowboarding in the country. The peak has been named Ghar-e-Samar in her honor. This also shows as the opportunities are given to the youth, they are ready to avail them. According to a news source, “The new avenue of winter extreme sports has been opened for aspiring youth of Pakistan which has a huge potential keeping in mind the largest mountain ranges we have.”
