Who would have known that an athlete would bring us a gold medal after 60 long years? The last time we had a gold medal was in 1962 when Olympian Ghulam Raziq won a gold medal in men’s 120-yard hurdles in Perth, Australia. Most of us did not know that Javelin exists in Pakistan. Arshad Nadeem made us proud by bagging a gold medal after 60 years in the Commonwealth games. An emotional moment for the Pakistani moment where our athletes have rarely made an appearance.
What a superb performance from Arshad Nadeem!
He earns Pakistan their first track and field Gold after 60 years 🥇🥇, setting precedence with a new Games record.

25 years old, hailing from Mian Channu, he caught the media’s attention last year 2021. Without any support from the sports federation and government, he excelled despite being injured and breaking his own records. The only South Asian Athlete sharing the honor with the arch-rival Neeraj Chopra left the world shocked at the Commonwealth games. He bagged the gold medal.
We've seen some incredible records broken out on the track over the past week. 🔥
We're going to miss this. ❤️#CommonwealthGames | #B2022

He became the first Pakistani athlete after 60 years to win a gold medal at Commonwealth Games to bag the gold medal after 60 years. His first round was a throw of 86.81 meters, the second round went invalid. The third round was 88 meters. The fourth round was 85.09 meters. He surprised the world in his last round by making a world record at 90.18 meters. He is the first South Asian to achieve this feat.
