The football legend, Lionel Messi who is The World’s Highest-Paid athlete in 2022 and won Ballon d’Or for seven years has decided to retire after Qatar World Cup 2022. He is also the highest-rated athlete for 2022-2023. Currently, he is playing for Argentina’s national team. As said, there will never be another Lionel Messi.
He debut in 2005 and holds a record for most international goals (90). Messi has scored over 780 goals for club and country and also has the most goals by a player for a single club.
He announced his retirement while giving an interview with ESPN Argentina, “It’s my last World Cup, surely. I feel good physically, I was able to do a very good pre-season this year, which I couldn’t do last year. It was essential to get to where I am, with a good state of mind and a lot of hope.”
Argentina will be one of the favorites in Qatar WC 2022 under Manager Lionel Scaloni. He is keen to win the WC before his retirement as he has every major trophy other than the World Cup. “There is anxiety, and nerves about the World Cup. We can’t wait for it to start.”
