World Health Day 2022-“Make Mental Health and Wellbeing for All a Global Priority”

COVID has opened a lot of wounds that people had kept to themselves. One of them was struggling with mental health, which was widely acknowledged. Post-CIVID things have changed. The after-effects of natural disasters and conflicts are also one of the reasons for mental health being triggered.

Mental Health is very important.  At least, one in eight people is affected by mental health issues. The theme of this world mental health day is “Make Mental Health and Well-being for All a Global Priority”.

World Health Organization (WHO) said, “10th October is a chance to rekindle our efforts to protect and improve mental health.” COVID has opened a lot of wounds that people had kept to themselves. One of them was struggling with mental health, which was widely acknowledged. Post-COVID things have changed. The after-effects of natural disasters and conflicts are also one of the reasons for mental health being triggered.

In Pakistan, the recent floods have created a lot of unrest in terms of human loss and economically. Now, mental healthcare has come to be considered a critical part of the public health challenges brought on by humanitarian crises. We need more than just a framework. Action is needed as soon as possible so that the problem gets treated in time.
