While Lionel Messi’s free kicks normally excite fans, one spectator was not quite amused, during Inter Miami’s Major League Soccer (MLS) match against Orlando City—which Miami won 5-0.
The Argentine superstar stunned the audience with a spectacular brace in six minutes during the second half of Sunday’s game in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Messi attempted a hat-trick, but his free kick missed the post and struck a baby girl in the stands behind the goalpost.
Photographs show the small girl’s reaction when the ball hit her; she started crying right away. After the girl’s family swiftly comforted her, her father retorted in a clever manner.
“My dear, are you okay? Still, Messi hit you, huh? The Mirror reports that he filmed the entire encounter and stated, “Nothing’s wrong.”
Thanks to a breakaway by Jordi Alba, who passed the ball to Suarez at the edge of the penalty box, Messi scored his first goal of the game.
Following a deflection off the bar, Messi slid the Spaniard’s effort into the net.
Messi received assistance from Suarez, who also scored his second assist of the game, for his second goal.
As Inter Miami counterattacked, Suarez got the ball on the left flank and sent a curling cross that was headed in for a goal by Messi.
Messi made the following statement following the game: “We’re improving, having fun, and doing well.” In order to keep moving forward and progress, we needed to win today’s match, which will only strengthen our resolve for the future.”
