The Best 7 Qawali’s Of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan

It is very difficult to choose the best 7 from all of his amazing work but at the same time we had to decide and so we did.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is the myth, the legend, and the most phenomenal musician that ever existed. He taught the world what it means to be a true Qawal – and just imagine; the honor it must have been to have people come up to you and ask you to sing their verses and songs. Nusrat Sahab changed the way that anyone perceives music.

We listen to his Qawali’s when we are down, or in love, or just want to vibe with our friends, that feeling of melancholy. And so, we decided to sit down and write about the best 7 Qawalis of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. It is very difficult to choose the best 7 from all of his amazing work but at the same time we had to decide and so we did.

Here the best 7 Qawali’s of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan:

  1. Mera Piya Ghar Aya
  2. Man Kunto Maula
  3. Sanu Aik Pal Chain Na
  4. Tum Ek Ghora Dhanda Hou
  5. Tumhe Dilagi
  6. Piya Re Piya Re
  7. Tu Mera Dil Tu Meri Jaan

Nusrat Sahab was known for the way he sang about anything and everything. The reason why his Qawali’s are so famous even today is because they are relatable to everyone. Some people take these Qawal’s as an ode to their lovers, while others take them to express their love for God.

One of his best works – Tum Ek Gorak Dhanda Hou is amazing because of the way that he sings and praises the Almighty and all of His creation. A few years back – this Qawali was then reproduced by Nescafe Basement and the younger generation loved it.

To work in a way that people can’t help but remember and praise you long after your death, and then wish to have had the opportunity to meet you once is a life lived successfully.

There is a reason why Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is referred to as an Ustad– a teacher who laid out the foundation for generations of what it means to be a Qawal and how to sing a Qawali. Unfortunately, this legend was taken too early from us – at the age of only 51. And while he is not with us today, he lives still in our hearts and we remember him for the work that he did. He indeed was a man of great honor and it would have been privileged to have met him once.
