Pakistan is Through to the Semi-Finals of Paris Olympic Qualifications

Pakistan qualify for the semi-final of Paris Olympic Qualifiers after a 3-3 draw against Malaysia in the last group match

 

After securing a 3-3 draw against Malaysia in their last group match Pakistan team booked a spot in the semi-finals of the Paris Olympics Qualifiers played in Muscat, Oman.

Green shirts are just one match away from securing a spot in the Paris Olympics as the top three teams of the qualification round will advance to the Paris Olympics this summer.

By the end of group matches, Pakistan and China were on level terms as they had the same amount of points. A better goal average helped Pakistan go through the group stage ahead of China. Thanks to England’s 6-0 win over Malaysia earlier in the day.

Earlier England defeated China with a huge margin of 6 goals, because of which only a draw was enough for Pakistan against Malaysia to qualify for the semi-final.

Khan Sufyan, Ammad Butt, and Rana Waheed scored goals for Pakistan. Meanwhile, Sasri Fitri, Abu Kamal, and Ashari Farhan netted goals for Malaysia.

Pakistan will face Germany in the semi-final on January 20th, while in the other semi-final, Great Britain and New Zealand will face each other.

Pakistan was coming into the match against Malaysia at the back of a 2-0 win against China, in the first group match Pakistan lost to Great Britain 6-1.

Pakistan has failed to qualify in the last two Olympics. Pakistan’s team is under pressure to qualify for the Olympics. Pakistan has won the Gold medal in the Olympics in hockey three times. The last time Pakistan won the Olympic gold medal in hockey was in 1984.
