The idea for NFTs started with the auction of the infamous memes, ‘Friendship ended with Mudassir.’ This was sold for an estimated $49,866.40 online, after which people from all over Pakistan started showcasing their art online.

This picture was initially photoshopped by Muhammad Asif Raza Rana, a man from Gujranwala. He posted this picture on his Facebook page in 2015. This picture immediately got the eyes of the netizens, who later on adopted this template to make their own friendship breakup memes.

The 12-year-old British-Pakistani boy, Benyamin Ahmed from London, made 290,000 Euros by selling his digital artworks, Weird Whales. He created this during his summer holidays and accumulated a series of weird whales.

Chand Nawab, the video of a news reporter while reporting an Eid’s celebration video, got famous in 2008. “Karachi se log apnon mein Eid manane ke liye androoni mulk jaa rahe hain. Cameraman Kamil Yusuf ke saath, Chand Nawab, Indus News, Karachi.” The video was a very funny one, and then the concept of this video was used in various Bollywood movies. This video went up for an NFT auction and is expected to be sold for $64,000.

Sarim Akhtar is the face of the Pakistani meme industry. During a Pakistan Cricket match, Sarim Akhtar stood in the stadium and made a very disappointed face when the country was losing. This meme was later used for many months and sold in the NFT auction. It has also made it to the Meme Hall of Fame.

NFTOAR is Pakistan’s first digital art gallery dedicated to NFTs. This is for the preservation and advancement of the NFT corridor for Pakistan. The auction was held in Ejaz Art Gallery in Lahore and showcased the art piece ‘Swaddling Work’ by Hamza Qazi.

NFTs are the new thing all around the world. People have taken this as a competition to create the next best NFT. And because Pakistanis have no shortage of talent, we are sure that no one can stop us in this game!
