India became champions if Asia Cup for the eighth time in history of Asia Cup. India defeated the co-hosts Sri Lanka in a one sided final. This was the sixteenth edition of Asia Cup. India carried on their domination in history of Asia Cup. Pakistan has won Asia Cup only twoi times while the Lankans tigers have won this competition six times.
The Final
Yet again a delayed start was observed due to rain. As the proceedings begun Sri Lanka opted to bat first after winning the toss. Sri Lanka were looking to clinch their seventh Asia Cup tittle to go on level terms ion Asia Cup trophy count, but the Indian pacers had other plans. Sri Lanka had a terrible start, Sri Lankan batters rushed back to dressing room after each other very quickly. All of a sudden Sri Lanka found themselves 13 for lose of six wickets in no time. No Sri Lankan batter could find their feet on the wicket. Sri Lanka were all out for only a total of 50 runs only in 15.1 overs. Mohammad Siraj bowled an incredible spell where he took six wickets. Siraj took four wickets in a single over. Hardik Pandya took three wickets. For Sri Lanka it was Kusal Mendis yet again with the highest score who ended up with a total of 17 runs only.
Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill came out to open for India. It was a nothing task for the young Indian batters. They chased the easy target of 51 in only 6.1 overs. Gill scored 27 of those and 23 runs were scored by Kishan.

Mohammad Siraj was awarded Man of the match for his brilliant bowling performance. Siraj gave his prize money to ground staff who did a great job through out the tournament. For his 9 wickets in Asia Cup Kuldeep Yadav got man of the tournament award. India lifted the Asia Cup trophy for the eighth time. This win is a great boost for India before world cup.
