Taraweeh was offered at NY Times Square for the second time ever in the history of the United States, as the Muslims prayed the Namaz.

The organizer of the event stated to the local media that Muslims who live in the United States want to celebrate Ramadan at this iconic location in the middle of New York City so that they may demonstrate to others that Islam is a religion that promotes peace.

According to the organizers, there is a common misunderstanding regarding Islam.
“We want to teach our faith to all of those who are unfamiliar with what it’s about… “The religion of Islam is one that promotes peace.”

The holy month of Ramadan, during which observant Muslims abstain from food and drink from dawn till nightfall, started at daybreak on Saturday.

As a result of the fact that Muslims use a lunar calendar, many nations’ public statements of the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan might vary by as much as two days from one another.

In many Middle Eastern nations, the practice of Ramadan asks for colorful lanterns and lights to be placed across small alleys and surrounding mosques throughout the holy month.

Taraweeh offered at NY Times Square is the biggest thing that happened after the lights were lit in London for Ramadan. This year Ramadan festive was not only celebrated in Pakistan and Islamic countries but also in London and NY.
