We all love our jobs, don’t we? If it isn’t the unnecessary drama or having to deal with not-so-amazing colleagues at the workplace, the fear of getting scolded by a heartbreakingly younger manager will surely entice us to keep working. Man do we love our jobs!
The mass resignations hitting the industries in 2021 were proof. And just when the companies can establish their normal grinding work routines again, the great resignations hit them again below the belt. People are so in love with their jobs, that they are quitting them again in 2022.
But of course, wherever there are thousands of millennials and ten thousand of gen-z to prove a point, there will always be an aged boomer to prove them wrong.
Only recently, a man has made it to the Guinness Book of World Records (which records some of the most ‘useful’ achievements all around the world). Walter Orthmann, a hundred-year-old boomer has set a world record and a forever taunt for all of our generations by working consistently in a company for about 84 years. While some of us are struggling to face our boss after six months or deeply contemplating where to run off to next, this man just gave his entire life to a company.
Mother’s Day Special – A Thank You Note
You are probably rolling your eyes. We are too. However, much to our realization, the news isn’t a hoax. It is a truth. Walter Orthmann is surely a dedicated man who has not just beaten the regular life span, he has also beaten the record of the world’s longest career.
Walter had started working as early as the age of 14 in 1938. Because of his strong command of the German language, he got a job at a nearby weaving mill. Thus began Walter’s first and only job. The company’s name is RenauxView and since 1938, Walter Orthmann has continued to work there.
While we might not find much inspiration in this man’s insanely long career, we will definitely take notes on his dedication to a career path.
