Arooj Aftab, a Grammy-winning musician, has gained another  distinction. She will make history on February 5 when she performs at the 65th Grammy Awards as the first performer from Pakistan. Alongside Anoushka Shankar, she will sing the song “Udhero Na” at the live event in Los Angeles.

“I just cannot waitttttt to perform my Grammy-nominated song UDHERO NA Feat. Anoushka Shankar @anoushkashankarofficial live for you AT THE GRAMMYS,” Aftab said in a post on Instagram on Friday.

For the second year in a row, Aftab is also nominated for “Best Global Music Performance,” this time for her song “Udhero Na.”

She will compete for this prize in the Best Global Music Performance category against songs like “Gimme Love” by Matt B and Eddy Kenzo, “Last Last” by Burna Boy, “Neva Bow Down” by Rocky Dawuni and “Bayethe” by Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini, and Nomcebo Zikode.

In 2022, Arooj Aftab became the first musician from Pakistan ever to get a Grammy. She won for “Best Global Music Performance” with her song “Mohabbat.” She was also the first artist to take home the prize in this new category.

Oh my God! she said upon receiving the nomination in November of last year. A Grammy nomination has been made for Udhero Na. I, along with Anoushka Shankar, Maeve Gilchrist, and Nadje Noordhuis, congratulate you.
